22degrees and only 4mph winds, sounds like great weather…….but maybe not to run a marathon in!!
That’s what we were faced with for the 2017 Rotterdam Marathon, a daunting prospect but at least I knew there weren’t going to be any hills to contend with!!
A busier marathon than Amsterdam but equally as organised and portaloos a plenty ( they even had loos in the start pens which was a bonus ) I would thoroughly recommend this race to anyone especially if they like a flat, city marathon with lots of crowd support and music/drums throughout. It was great to hear the crowd shouting ” GO LYYYYYNNNNNN” in their Dutch accents and that was just with my name on my bib in small letters.
I didn’t manage a PB at the race for various reasons but there is definitely potential on the course for a fast time. Rotterdam is also such a nice relaxed city I would certainly consider coming back, maybe to do the 1/4 marathon instead and have more time to enjoy the beer and food like Scott, my other half, did.
